The PTC will have a Celebration on Saturday, July 5. The parade will start at 5:00 p.m. Hamburger supper will be at 6:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m. there will be games for the children on the football field. The adults can play horseshoes, washers, dominoes and spades. There will be drinks and snow cones in the concession stand. Fireworks at Dark.
Thursday of last week, Doug and Cyndi Suggs took Payton to Fiesta Texas. Then on Friday, Doug had a bike accident and broke his collar bone and two ribs. Danny Duggan called and wanted to know if Doug wanted to arm wrestle!!!
Tommy, Kaci, Talli and Tori went camping at Lake Brownwood for a family reunion.
Most of the children from Cherokee Home are at Camp Bandina Christian Camp this week. They will be back for the fun on Saturday, though.
Rick and Wiliece Hoffman recently had their children and their families from College Station as guests. Dale, Jenni, Natalie, and Alanna; and Shea, Dawn, and Charlotte Riordan visited over the weekend and entertained Berniece Kuykendall of Care Inn, as only grandchildren and great-grandchildren can.
Franklin and Sandra Crain joined the group for lunch Saturday, as well as Sue Cavness, Berniece’s sister-in-law, of Marble Falls.
The Baptist Youth were in Dallas Thursday, Friday and Saturday for YEC. They also went to Six Flags.
Michelle Buffe spent a few days with her parents, Larry and Marsha Mckneely.
A memorial service was held at the Cherokee Cemetery for Linda Gay Cavness Brown of Campbell, Texas on Sunday, June 29. Linda was born on November 2, 1957 to Graydon and Shirley Cavness. She died in an accident on May 24, 2008 at Campbell. Linda is survived by her son, Blake Brown, his wife, and one grandchild of Colorado; her mother, Shirley Cavness of Greenville; her brother, Graham Cavness of Campbell; and one sister, Janet Crawford, also of Campbell. Other survivors include: nephew, J. R. Crawford; niece, Shellie Crawford; great-niece, Madison Crawford; and great-nephew, Seth Crawford. Linda was preceeded in death by her dad, Graydon Ray Cavness, and grandmother, Lucy B. Berry.
There will be an Open House for the Mother’s Day Out on Saturday, July 5, 2008. It will be held at 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church Annex. They will be serving ice cream.
The San Saba Animal Hospital will be giving rabies shots at the Fire Hall on July 11. We will report the times next week.
