Bend Chapter of TEEA Meeting

The September meeting of the Bend Chapter of TEEA met on Monday, Sept 12 at the Methodist Church in Bend, TX. Fran Hulgan gave the educational program regarding Medicare fraud and abuse. Information was presented on how one should protect against the various fraud schemes involving scooters, arthritis kits and Medicare number identity thefts being perpetrated upon Medicare beneficiaries. Useful reference guides and handouts were provided to help report and protect against becoming a victim of Medicare fraud.

Election of officers was held for the next two year term with the following results:

President – Mary Jane Dennis, Vice President – Winnie Lou McCoury, Secretary/Treasurer – Dean Brown, Council Delegate – Malissa Lemons, Reporter – Phyllis Poelmann.

The club welcomed visitors Ora Beth Hicks and new member, D. Miles.

The next meeting will be held at the Methodist Church fellowship hall in Bend on Oct 10 at 2:00 p.m. The program topic will be how to make gift boxes from greeting cards. Anyone attending next month should bring scissors, greeting cards (used or new), pencil, glue and ruler and club members should bring a covered dish or snack.

The club welcomes visitors who are interested in the various educational topics that are presented at club meetings each month. One of the purposes of the Extension Education Clubs is to stimulate interest in better homemaking and an appreciation of home life and family relations.
