Wallace Maddox

Wallace Maddox, 79, of Lometa, Texas, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008 in Lampasas, Texas. He was born August 8, 1928 in Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, the son of Charles William Maddox and Etta Ferguson Maddox. On May 5, 1950, Wallace Harold Maddox and Bernice Lybrand were married in Hot Springs, Ark.

Wallace was a member of the Lometa ISD School Board for many years, helped with the Lometa FFA Livestock Show, helped founded the Lometa Rural Water Supply System, graduated from the University of Arkansas, and worked for ACCO Feeds for many years. He was a member of the Pecan Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice Lybrand Maddox, of Lometa; two sons: Tommy Maddox and his wife, Kay; and Jimmy Maddox and his wife, Beverly, all of Lometa; one daughter: Susan E. Simmons and her husband, Bill, of Corpus Christi; six grandchildren: Jody Simmons and his wife, Katherine; Mariann Herrington and her husband, Micah; Lori Oden and her husband, Cody; Steven Maddox and his wife, Lacy; Kristi Jennings and her husband, Gideon; and Elizabeth Maddox and her fiancé, Kasey Mock; three great-grandchildren: Caleb and Porter Simmons and Callan Maddox; two brothers: Darel Maddox and his wife, Joice, of Bruce, Mississippi; and Jerry Maddox and his wife, Lynda, of Little Rock, AR.

Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, C.W. Maddox and Etta Ferguson Maddox.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 1st at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home, with Rev. Sam Crosby officiating and Rev. Scott Edmondson assisting. Interment followed at the Chadwick Cemetery in Lampasas County. The family requests that memorials be made to the donors' favorite charities.

Services were under the direction of the Howell-Doran Funeral Home.
