Thursday, September 15, 2011 • Posted September 15, 2011

The JV Coyotes won a tough contest last Thursday night in Rising Star against a very good Azle Christian Academy JV squad. The PA announcer introduced the Crusaders as the Varsity team, but then quickly corrected himself. Some still suspected, that there was a liberal sprinkling of Varsity players, on the Crusader squad. Regardless, after another slow start, the JV Coyotes rose to the occasion and eventually put a 45 point spread on them and ended the game due to the mercy rule with about 3 minutes left in the game. The Coyotes featured a multi-faceted attack with Trevor Tinney providing a much needed spark on offense and defense. Trevor scored on multiple long touchdown runs and had two interceptions to lead the Coyotes to the victory. Tinney also kicked six extra points for twelve points. On this night, it was "Too Much Tinney", for the Azle Christian Academy Crusaders. John Greenwood, playing sparingly on offense, looked like he could score at will and added touchdown runs as needed. Storm Teel scored on a nice reverse and threw a nice pass to Dillon Parker for a touchdown. Hard running Stanley Butler added another score on a pass from Justin Trevino. The slow starting Coyote defense gave up some points early but then stiffened to shut down the Crusader offense. Coach Michael Brand brought 8 Coyotes to the contest, John Greenwood, Chris Munoz, Dillon Parker, Justin Trevino, Jacob Cohn, Trevor Tinney, Corey Turner, Stanley Butler, and all were needed to defeat the Crusaders of Azle. The JV Coyotes improve their record to 1-1 and will play Blanket on Thursday night at 7:00 pm in Blanket
