The Wall Hawks ran past the San Saba Armadillos last Friday night at Rogan Field. The Hawks had 360 yards rushing while San Saba amassed 170 yards total.
San Saba won the opening coin toss and deferred to the second half. Wall received the kick from Rodney Ortiz and muffed it out of bounds at the 35 yard line. The opening play was a pass from Collin McCrory to Jake Henderson that caught the Armadillo defense by surprise. The play went for 28 yards. Seven plays later, McCrory scored on a 1-yard run. The PAT was muffed and McCrory picked up the ball and ran it in for 2 points. Wall led 8-0.
San Saba got a good return on the kickoff from Jarrett Mathis out to the 34. The Armadillos ran 14 plays on their drive, including converting 2 plays on 4
On the first play of the next drive by Wall, McCrory did not secure the handoff and Tanner Weyerts recovered the ball for San Saba at the Wall 48.
San Saba was unable to gain a first down and Wall took over on downs at the 40.
It appeared that Wall would score again but a fumble at the Armadillo 2 was recovered by Nathan Amstead.
A good run by Zack Davis brought the ball out to the 27 yard line. A bad snap from the shotgun pushed the ball back to the 10. San Saba punted the ball and Wall started at the Dillo 37.
Wall used 5 plays to score and Grant Eubank plunged over from the 1. McCrory kicked the PAT and the lead was 15-7.
San Saba started their next drive at the 27 yard line. San Saba used good running and receptions by Cox to move down to the Hawk 17. Rodney Ortiz came on for a 34-yard field goal, but the kick sailed wide left.
Wall took over at the 20 with 0:50 left in the half and ran out the clock.
San Saba started the second half with the ball but had to punt to the Hawks.
Wall started at the 43 after the punt. A 38-yard pass and run from Collin McCrory to Grant Eubank set up McCrory for a 5-yard touchdown scamper. The PAT made the score 22-7.
The Armadillos had to punt after gaining a first down. It would be the only first down of the second half for San Saba. The kick rolled dead at the Hawk 4 yard line.
Wall moved the ball out from deep in their territory before Luke Cox recovered a fumble by Eubank after a nice 19-yard run at the Armadillo 35.
Russell Lowe had to punt the ball back to Wall. The returner was tackled immediately.
Wall drove to the San Saba 24 before turning the ball over on downs.
A pass from Ryan Pannell to Clayton Perry was fumbled and Wall recovered at the Armadillo 30.
Five plays later, Trent Scwartz scored on a 4-yard run. McCrory kicked the PAT for the 29-7 lead with 7:30 left in the game.

Goldthwaite beat Callisburg in Alvarado, Lago Vista lost to Waco Robinson in a track meet 61-54, Harper got past Ingram Moore, Ozona beat Stanton, Coleman improved to 3-0 by shutting out Early and Junction beat Grape Creek.
The Armadillos opponent this week is Hamilton. The Bulldogs are coming off a 50-14 thumping by Eastland. The game is in Hamilton with kickoff set for 7:30.
