Cherokee Volunteer Fire Department’s Annual fundraiser a great success
Thursday, September 15, 2011 • Posted September 15, 2011

Cherokee VFD held the 25th Annual Fundraiser on Saturday. The community and landowners helped the fire department raise over $23,000. This money is used for expenses and equipment.

Cherokee VFD would like to thank all who donated, brought food, and helped in any way. The fire department served fish, pork and steak and held its cake auction. A gift certificate from Harry’s Department Store and a quilt by the ladies of the community were raffled. The Cherokee ISD Ag Department, which is in its first year, donated a trash bin that they made for the auction as well as prints by K.W. Whitley and the Randolph’s black buck hunt. A quilt made by the ladies of the community was also auctioned.

Each year, the fire department recognizes a current or past member of the fire department in its "Wall of Honor". This year’s recipient was Charles Perry. Charles has been a member of the fire department and has headed up the cooking and music for the current and past fundraisers of the fire department.

Music was enjoyed by all. Providing music was Charles Perry, Kristy Perry, Ginger Skelton, Buddy Roberts and Boots Patton. Thanks to all who enjoyed the night with us. Your support is appreciated.

Cherokee VFD reminds everyone to be safe. Please contact the Sheriff’s Office if you see any smoke or possible fires. Your help is appreciated.
