San Saba County Commissioners hold 2nd public hearing

The San Saba County Commissioners met on Monday, September 12th at 9:00 a.m. in the County Judge’s chambers for the 2nd public hearing on Tax Increase. Commissioner Kenley Kroll presented a cake purchased at the Cherokee VFD fund raiser with personal funds from Judge Theodosis and the four Commissioners and was enjoyed by those in attendance. At 9:25 a.m. County Judge Byron Theodosis called the regular court meeting to order and welcomed everyone. Commissioner Kenley Kroll gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags.

The following Official and Departmental Reports were approved subject to audit: County/District Clerk; County Treasurer; Justice of the Peace and County Sheriff.

County Sheriff, Allen Brown, reported that the department is in need of a dispatcher and deputy; DWI arrests have increased this month; a citizen was armed and dangerous but was disarmed without incident; the portable breathlizer test kit that has been used on a trial basis is acceptable and will be purchased for $345; the taser has been helpful for certain situations; the department’s "zero tolerance" is being enforced with discretion.

The following non-action departmental reports were received from the: County Judge; County Extension Agents; County Indigent Health Care Program Director; County Grant Writer; County EMS Billing; County Emergency Management Coordinator; County On-Site Sewage Facility Management Coordinator; County 9-1-1 Coordinator; County Trapper.

Discussion, deliberation or action was taken on the following items:

A. Approved a Tax Waiver for the Housing Authority of City of San Saba.

B. Discussed Incorporated Cities of San Saba County’s participation through interlocal agreements in appropriate county expenses.

C. Enacted a Burn Ban that will be in effect from September 12th, 2011 to December 12th, 2011.

D.Approved accounts pay-ables presented by County Treasurer, Gayla Hawkins.

E. Approved minutes of the previous Commissioners Court meetings.

F. Set the date of the next Commissioners’ Court Meeting for Monday, September 19th, 9 a.m. for the vote on the Budget.

G. County Treasurer, Gayla Hawkins reported Michael Vines and Amber Perez as new employees at the Sheriff’s Department.

Judge Theodosis adjourned the meeting at 9:50 a.m. Randy Robinson, a San Saba County resident was in attendance at the meeting to observe. Others in attendance were: County Judge, Byron Theodosis; County Clerk, Kim Wells; County Commissioners,
