School Rivalries…….This is possibly one thing that we all have in common across our school years. Each and every one of us regardless of where we went to school or when we went to school, all have a story to tell about a great game or competition with a rival school. The rivalry between Goldthwaite and San Saba is truly an interesting school rivalry. There’s much at stake when these two schools collide, a river, the title of who won the last game in the 94

Parents, let us know how we can help you the first day of school all the way until the last day of school!! If you have any question about this article or any other question about school happenings please contact me at 325/372-3144 or email me at lglaze@san-saba.net

th meeting of two teams, bragging rights at the coffee shop, protecting our home turf from graffiti artists, and protecting the "real" armadillos from being used in a prank. Each year with this game, wonderful tales emerge of this great rivalry. It reminds me of what is truly great about public education - the small community and the importance of the community school. This rivalry reminds us of our civic pride and why we are proud to be from San Saba. Even for those of us who were not raised in San Saba and did not attend grade school and graduate from here, we understand and feel a part of this rivalry. It is events like the Goldthwaite and San Saba rivalry that makes our community unique. This rivalry helps all of us come to know and understand just how important a school district is to the community. The school pulls the community together in good times and in bad. As citizens, school employees, grandparents, parents and student athletes, we share the good times and the great victories, but we also share in the times when they are bad. Your school, your students, and your teachers need you to remember that the school is a reflection of the community. We want to thrive and be successful just as the community can thrive and be successful. Please support our efforts, be proud of our programs, proud of the students, and support the coaches, band, all our sports teams, cheerleaders, drill team, and every aspect of school. It’s not just about athletics, it is about the entire package of a school and how the school supports the community and the community supports the school. Thanks for following the Armadillos "across the river" and for supporting this great victory! We had a great crowd, and I hope that you will continue to follow the Armadillos in all their successes.
