We are a week into 2-a-days and so far so good! We had 10 good practices last week and 5 so far this week and the kids are really working hard. This week is a big week in the pre-season schedule as we have our first scrimmage Friday August 12th. the San Saba Armadillo football teams will scrimmage Hico at Rogan Field. The JV. will scrimmage at 6:00 pm. The Varsity will follow at approx 7:00 pm. This was originally scheduled for Saturday but has been moved to Friday evening. As in years past we are asking for donations of body wash soap,(for health reasons we do not use bar soap). Shampoo, and new towels. As you might imagine in a effort to keep clean and healthy we go through these items rather fast. Thanks in advance for your generosity and helping our program. Something that we will do at this scrimmage for the first year is a donation box for the Texas High School Coaches Association Benevolence Fund, the THSCEF Benevolence fund was established to assist athletes and coaches with special needs or hardships.( see press release). This is called " Our Day To Shine" by the Texas High School Coaches Association. To date over 500 schools participate. There will be a donation box and information at the scrimmage. Thanks to everyone for supporting the annual boys athletic fundraiser and purchasing cookie dough from the football players. The response has been good so far and they will continue selling these delicious cookies through August 16th. Future dates of importance are: Thursday August 18th. The Varsity and the JV will have team and individual pictures at Rogan Field at 10:00 am.On this date as well the Armadillos will have our 2nd. scrimmage at Comanche. JV. will start at 6:00pm. and the Varsity to follow at approx. 7:00pm.The teams will leave around 4:00. On Friday August 19th. Middle School football players may get football equipment and lockers at 4:00. Also on this date the booster club will host "Meet the Dillos" at 7:00 pm. All players, mgrs. coaches, and others will be introduced at this time. We start a great school year on August 22nd. and kick off the Football season on the 25th. and 26th. with Ballinger. 18 days, 23 hours, 37 min. until kickoff.
