the weekend at the Locking Horn Lodge out of Richland Springs. It was the last time they could all get together before school starts. Jimma will be going back to school at San Marcos this Fall. Saturday they drove to Brady ate, then to Brownwood and from there to Santa Anna for more shopping at the antique shops and gift shops located there. Saturday night was spent making different types of crafts and just having a good time. Tie dyeing T-shirts, decorating cups, sticking tattoos on each other and painting toe nails. OraBeth was the only one that the tattoo wouldn’t stick on. They never did figure out why, but all agreed that they had a very good time.

A surprise birthday party was held for Malissa Lemons last Sunday at the home of Hugo and Lesa Preece. She celebrated her 75 birthday with friends and family. Those attending were Bruce, Moria Lemons and children Brodie and Haley, Danny, Audrey and Chelsea Lemons and Mat Usener, Brandon and Alisa Preece, Kristen Preece, Eric and Ashely Hernandez, Clay Bradley, Dale Faught, Michael and Gennifer Brister and children Dean and Dillon, Jackie McDAniel, Keith and Wanda Lemons, Jim and Edna Machen. Mexican food was served and a special birthday cake made by Ashley Hernandez was served to everyone. A money tree instead of gifts was given to Malissa and enough money was raised to buy her round-trip ticket to Portland, Oregon to visit her friend and one time Bend resident Billie Jean Scott. After the party Clay Bradley who had been visiting his parents several days returned home to Waxahachie.

Bend will be losing another family. Cory Evans and his family will be moving to take over the Palo Duro Canyon Park. They have been at the Bend State Park for a number of years and they will be sorely missed.

Joel and Denise January and their two children Luke and Abigail of Houston were in over the weekend visiting his mother Debbie January, grandmother Jolene Lively and other relatives in the Bend area. Jolene took a bad fall at her home this past week. She reported no broken bones but having some problems with some pain when she breathes. She went in

to see Doctor Monday after much urging from members of her family. Keep her in your prayers.

Denise Scroggins reported that his wife Glenda who underwent lung surgery at Scott and White is doing very well. Keep the family in your prayers.

Bernice Potter was admitted into the hospital in Lampasas Saturday with muscle spasms in his back. He is undergoing physical therapy and taking muscle relaxers. Lafayne is suffering from a kidney infection, but the good news is that she will not have to go back in for chemo for 3 weeks. The family needs your prayers.

Happy birthday greetings go out to Kit Clark who will celebrate a birthday August 12, to Garrison Stinnett and Elsa Dean Shirley who will be celebrating a birthday August 15, to Winnie Lou McCoury who will celebrate a birthday August 16 and to Louise Barefoot who will celebrate her birthday August 17. Congratulations goes out to Gene and Janet Brister who will be celebrating their anniversary August 13.
