The LanTex Film Society will present the movie, Mr. Popper’s Penguins at the LanTex this week-end, Friday night July29 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The film society has been featuring Texas Produced Films on the Friday nights before the Llano Country Opry. There will be $1.00 off coupons in the stores, banks, and restaurants for this movie.

The life of businessman Tom Popper, a successful New York City businessman who has put almost all of his life into his work, instead of family. One day he gets a phone call saying that his father has died, and has left him a gift.Guess what the gift is? Six gentoo penguins, and they are going to help him realize that he has shunned out almost every opportunity he’s had in life to appreciate the beauty you can experience if you stop and smell the roses.

Tom's life begins to change as he transforms his apartment into a wonderland, and his professional side starts to unravel. Once the penguins are brought into the public eye he has to contend with a zoo keeper who wants the penguins. He believes that Popper’s house is not well-suited to take care of them. See how Jim Carrey adjusts to the situation by balancing his career and the fact that his kids are taken with the penguins. The stars of the movie are Jim Carrey, Carla Gugino, Angela Lansbury, Ophelia Lovibond and Madeline Carroll.
