THE A. J. WALKER, SR. DECENDENTS held their annual reunion Saturday,

July 9

The photo above is a group picture taken in July of 1949. "90" family members and friends had a wonderful day of visiting, looking at pictures, playing games and having a lot of fun with a Silent Auction and a Bidding Auction.

We had a delicious Bar-B-Q and covered dish lunch followed by pies, cakes, cookies and homemade ice cream. The theme was ‘God Bless America’ and the room looked real patriotic in all of its Red, White and Blue finery. All of the centerpieces were given out as door prizes. Raffle prizes, this year, were a "Sampler" quilt, a ceramic drink dispenser, and a photo of a family porch with rockers and the American flag. These prizes were won by: Steven Pierce, Reba Stutts and Dorothy Cason, respectively. The ‘special winners’ were: Youngest – Ella Grace Kelton [at 7 weeks old], Furthest from the Youngest – Reba Stutts [at 90 years young], Most Family Present – Nell McHorse [with 26 members present], and Traveling the Farthest – John and Meredith Arendale and family from Richmond, Va.

Eldon Pierce was able to attend even though it was with a ’bump in the road’ and brought a 25-foot updated family tree for all to see and be auctioned off [won by George McHorse]. Family members attending the reunion from the Terry and Maud Walker family were:
