There have been a few light showers in the area, but none of them have fallen on us. Still just hoping and praying.

There were 23 folks out for the gospel singing last Saturday night. Johnie Reeves was there to help Michael Suber with the song leading in the absence of Wayne Powell. We missed Wayne and Kay McKee to help us out on the piano. Sue Tripp kindly offered (with a little friendly persuasion) to play the piano and did a great job. Thank you, Sue. We really appreciate it! Cecil Campbell was up from San Antonio and I could sit all night and listen to his beautiful tenor voice! We missed his wife being there with him. We had several visitors from San Saba and we were happy to have them there. Monica Edmondson, along with daughters, Laurel and Melia, gave several renditions on the guitar and fiddle, as well as singing. Those girls just keep on getting better and better! After a session of singing, we took a break and had homemade ice cream and lots of good cookies. Altogether, we had a very good time. You should have been there! If you missed it, we will have another one on the third Saturday in October.

The Busy Bee quilting was last Tuesday at the home of Irene Hammett. Only 4 members were in attendance. They were Fay and Gloria Lusty, Marilyn Miller and Irene Hammett. They worked on a quilt for Gloria and If she gets it finished at home, Irene will provide one for next month. They will again meet at Irene’s house.

We need to correct the results of the last 42 tournament. Marilyn Suber types this column for me and she left herself out! It should have said that Doyle Slaughter and Marilyn Suber won first place. At least, I wasn’t guilty of that one!

Remember the big Elm Grove rodeo is coming up right away on August 4, 5, and 6. Make plans to bring out the whole family for 3 nights of inexpensive fun for everyone. I can’t wait for one of those good old rodeo hamburgers!
