William and Jane Clark returned Tuesday from their vacation in Colorado. Jamie, Andrew, A.J. Houdyshell, Doug, Kristi, Jordan and Jaylee Messer of

Lampasas, Boyd Clark and his two sons Eli and Silas also were there with them to enjoy all the cool weather that Colorado had to offer, and they reported that they had three days of rain. A Blue Grass Festival also took place while they were there. Cool, music and rain what more could you ask for, just wish they had brought some of it back with them.

Wendy Pauswang wants everyone to known that the she and her family know as the "Paustive" will be performing Saturday, July 23 from 6:00 p.m. til 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Pepperbelly’s Mexican Restaurant. They performed at the Bend Community Center and at the Methodist Camp ground fish fry and she just wanted her friends from the Bend to know. They have some new songs and Mkkaila is now playing the bass. In case you haven’t heard them, you have missed out some good stuff. They are just getting started and you will be hearing a lot more about the group.

The Bend Methodist Church will host a VBS beginning Sunday, July 24 and run through July 28. It will be starting in the evening at 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Kids K-6th grades are welcome to come and join. The theme is "Shake it up Cake" where kids will learn God’s recipes.

John Brooks was in Lubbock this past week attending the FFA convention. John didn’t escape any of the heat as Lubbock has had as much or more than we have had around here, but I just bet he had a good time.

Shirley Meischen reported that she is still weak, but getting around some and wants to thank everyone for their prayers. She and her family should be kept on your prayer list.

Visiting this past week in the home of Rufus and Tommye Cobern was his daughter Vee Peters and son Garrett of Duncanville. His son Rusty and wife Pam and children will be visiting this week. Rufus suffered from hick-ups for two days, but Sunday they stopped and he was able to get some much needed rest. The family needs to be kept in your prayers.

Thursday Toni Mayben, Patsy Henniger and Jane Clark were in Granbury for the celebration of Monte Arms birthday. They were joined by Carrie Wayne Keeney and Nancy Hicks came from Alvarado for the party.

A going away party was held for Don and Charlie Graham who will soon be moving to Allen. They are going to be missed in the community.

Catherine Hicks was to celebrate a birthday Sunday, but she wanted to put it off because a sow was to give birth Sunday and she didn’t want to miss that.

According to grandpa Jim she is really into the pig business. To give up a birthday party for a bunch of little pigs is really something most youngsters would never think about doing. You have all heard of "going to the dogs", well in this case it is "going to the hogs."

Happy birthday goes out to Jamie Garrett who will celebrate a birthday Saturday, July 23, to Chris Mayben whose birthday is July 24, and Nicklaus and Brady Freeland will celebrate a birthday July 24.

Congratulations go out to Jack and LaNell Daniels who will celebrate their anniversary July 27.
