Add this information to the 11% less placements put on feed in May and the big drop in corn prices due to more acres planted and a greater estimated carryover were very positive for the cattle market. The stocker steers advanced $5-$7 with a set of 12 steers @527lbs bringing $1.52. Stocker heifers sold $5 higher. The bigger feeder steers sold $3 higher and feeder heifers were $5 higher. Packer cows were $4 higher and bulls were $3 higher. Pairs and bred cows all sold on an active market with many going to out of state buyers. There was no sale in Mason due to the July 4th holiday.
