Soul Surfer at the Lantex this week-end
Thursday, July 14, 2011 • Posted July 14, 2011

Lutie Watkins Methodist Church will present "Soul Surfer" this Friday night July 15, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 16, at 4:00 and 7:30. The movie will promote the Church’s mission committee’s project "imagine no more malaria."

This is a drama about the life of surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lives in Hawaii with her parents, lost her arm at age 13 to a shark attack, and her struggles afterward. The term "Soul Surfer" was coined in the 1960’s to denote someone who surfs purely for pleasure, but in this case the word soul has a double meaning as a reference to Hamilton’s Christian faith, which helped her recover her surfing career after the attack. She has a passion for the sport and after the accident and a recuperation period, learns to surf with one arm and re-enters competition.

This is a must see movie, full of courage and steadfastness. $1.00 off coupons will be available at the stores, banks, and restaurants. Come see this heartwarming film this week-end in the cool of the LanTex.
