2 Peter 3:10 - "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat; the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

We know the Lord has destroyed the entire world twice by water, but He promised He would never do that again. However, He gave a strong warning that the world would be completely destroyed the next time by fire. We know Peter was a faithful servant and apostle of the Lord. Do you believe he may have had a vision of that happening when he wrote the above scripture we are using for a text? If so, do you believe it might occur in the near future? The Bible teaches no man will know when the end will come and Jesus said that even He did not know, and only God did. Peter's vision tells it will come as a thief in the night, meaning it will be a surprise when it does happen. If we give attention to his vision, it appears that the heavens just exploded with a great noise and it set fire to the earth and everything in it began to burn up. Now if this was truly a vision he had from the Lord, that is exactly how it is going to happen. All the wealth the greedy rich have accumulated will burn up and they will suffer great loss. This is set forth in your Bible as a warning and if we are wise, we will give it great concern. God has never given empty warnings and this earth will be destroyed by fire when it becomes sinful enough for God to decide to do it.

We should know and God does know this world is becoming too sinful to please Him. He has the power to do what Peter describes, don't doubt that.
