A couple of weeks ago I was trying to download some pictures from my phone to my laptop. I got the phone out and turned it on. I got the USB cord and plugged it into the phone. Then I plugged the USB connector into the port and…everything went blank! The computer, the phone, everything!

I restarted the computer and the screen came up. I was excited because I thought I had lost my computer. It is okay. But when I went to put the pictures from my phone on the computer, I had a surprise. Everything had been removed from my telephone, which is also a phone book, address book, calendar with appointments, etc. Evidently, I have a bad USB port.

Don’t you just love modern technology? Right when you have everything working as you want it, something like this happens and makes one upset. Now I will have to reenter the information, phone numbers, addresses and I lost the pictures (some were of Jeremy’s wedding). This took a long time to do but eventually I will get it done.

Sometimes things go just as you intend for them to go. At other times they do not. What happens when things go awry in your life? Do you get angry? Do you say words that you should not have said? Do you sever a relationship when there is a problem? Do you look for someone or something to blame? How do you react?

I know how our Heavenly Father wants us to act. He wants us to love one another no matter what the problem may be. He wants us to talk to one another and heal relationships instead of carrying grudges. He wants us to quit acting like spoiled children who do not get their way and move forward. He wants us to quit being rude to one another. And as we do we know we are following God as He intended. (See Eph. 4:26; 1 Cor. 13:5)

It would not have done me any good to throw the laptop or the phone away. I have a huge investment in these two things. Are we willing to throw away our souls for the flimsiest of reasons? Life is tough but we have a God who can move us through the rough times. Trust Him!
