City of San Saba requests Voluntary Water Restrictions
Thursday, July 7, 2011 • Posted July 7, 2011

The City of San Saba is recommending "Stage One VOLUNTARY Water Conservation" to it’s valued customers. Due to the drought, The City of San Saba makes this recommendation to avoid elevating the level of restriction. Here are a few tips to help during this stage of conservation:

Water your lawn and garden in the morning or evening when temperatures are cooler to minimize evaporation. (8am – 12pm) (7pm – 10pm)

Adjust sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not the house, sidewalk, or street

Run your clothes washer and dishwasher only when they are full. You can save up to 1,000 gallons a month

Monitor your water bill for unusually high use. Your bill and water meter are tools that can help you discover leaks

Adjust your lawn mower to a higher setting. A taller lawn shades roots and holds soil moisture better than if it is closely clipped

Grab a wrench and fix that leaky faucet. It’s simple, inexpensive, and you can save 140 gallons a week

Report broken pipes, open hydrants and errant sprinklers to the property owner or your water provider

Use sprinklers that deliver big drops of water close to the ground. Smaller water drops and mist often evaporate before they hit the ground

Listen for dripping faucets and running toilets. Fixing a leak can save 300 gallons a month or more

Remember, this is a VOLUNTARY Stage One Water Restriction. This recommended restriction will stay in place until further notification. Thanks for your consideration and compliance. Together we can make a difference and our job is serving you. "City of San Saba Water Department Staff"
