Building a Home
Thursday, June 30, 2011 • Posted June 30, 2011

Last week I went to visit a deacon in our Church. He was sitting in his front yard in the shade of some big trees drinking ice tea. He had been painting some trim and was taking a break. I asked him about their home because years ago it was just barren land. They purchased the land and then started working by clearing and then moving in a mobile home, now they have a nice double wide and they have even added on to that. It is a beautiful place with pipe fences, beautiful yard, lots of green grass and many trees. He and his wife have spent years working on their home. It reminded me of something in the Bible. There are two ways to build a home in God’s realm. One is to include God in the process or we can leave him out. The house or home without God will not prosper, not financially but in relation to the things of God and it even has a curse on it, (Proverbs 3:33, Jeremiah 22:13). It is compared to a house built on shifting sand that will not endure, (Matthew 7:26 &27). Not only does it take the husband but it also takes the wife to build a Godly home, (Proverbs 14:1). A family or home that includes God will endure and it will take time to build, (Proverbs 12:7, Matthew 7:24 &25). See you in Church next Sunday.
