Clifford Wilson passed away in his home on June 21, 2011 a the age of 77. He will be missed by his many friends and certainly by his family. Known as "dad,"grandad, "coach" and Cliff, he lived a rich and full life. Born in San Saba the youngest of 7 children he earned his high school diploma then went to Angelo College to play football. He met and married Suzie Jameson in 1953.
Clifford proudly served his country in the Air Force stationed in Japan and El Paso. While in the service he had the privilege of playing on the softball team and he often told stories of the camaraderie and special places they were able to see. He went on to graduate with his Bachelor of Science in Education from Southwest College in San Marcus and in 1966 received his Master’s in Education. His career in education included coaching, teaching and administration. His first teaching post was in Rankin, TX. He is remembered by former students as a tough but fair teacher that was always willing to go the extra mile for someone in need. Clifford and his wife Suzie had 3 children and lived on the "ranch" in Silver, TX. In August of 2000 Suzie passed away after a short battle with cancer. In 2002 he married Julia Brown an old friend and school mate. They made their home in San Saba where family and friends were plentiful. "Checking the courthouse" and taking a drive up Chapel Hill were daily rituals until he was no longer able to do so. Illness marked his last years but he was always willing to work hard to maintain his independence. His comfort and well being was top priority for his wife Julia and in the latter stages Brady Health Care Services stepped in to help meet his needs. Dee St. John became an invaluable friend and helpmate who never wavered in her diligence and loyalty. Lighthouse Hospice was also a valuable ally in the final days. A genuine heartily laugh was a trait that will always be remembered by all of those who knew him well. A good political discussion was something he looked for daily. Clifford Wilson will be missed by many but he is looking down from Heaven and has found peace.
