The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met June 16, 2011 for play day, with the Chair for June, Jo Anne Hardy, calling for a game of Match Play.

Sandee Hartley drummed Anita Miles in the First Flight, and also scored the Low Gross for the day. Hattie Rogers edged out Dorothy Sterner on the last hole for the Second Flight and Janet Hoyt and Jo Ann Snow tied and refused continuing play in the heat in the Third Flight. Jo Ann scored the Low Net for the day and won the Putt Pot.

We had a handsome young man join us for lunch, Jeffrey Hoyt, grandson of Janet Hoyt. He was as delightful to be with as his grandmother! Nice young gentleman!

Our faithful member, Becky Hardin, has had back surgery this week and it was considered a successful surgery. We have gotten good reports but know she is in a lot of pain and needs our continued prayers. Or maybe her attentive husband, Larry, needs our prayers! We love the Hardins and appreciate all the ways they have contributed to the San Saba River Golf Course.

The heat is upon us and you gotta be tough to be playing golf, but at least we don’t have any mosquitos. There is always a silver lining to a black cloud!

We need a cloud! Pray for rain! I remember playing in the rain, a long long long time ago. We wondered what the crazy men across the river were doing fishing in the rain. It just all depends on what you love to do for sheer pleasure and joy and we choose "swinging!"
