Thursday, June 23, 2011 • Posted June 23, 2011

The classes of 1950 and 1951 came together in the San Saba Armadillo Arena on June 4, 2011 for their annual reunions. It was a special day for the 1951 class as they were celebrating their 60th reunion.

The lunch was catered by Betty Ann and Tommy Johnson. A great menu of chicken, pork steak, potato salad, green beans, green salad and dessert was served. Also several classmates contributed by bringing great desserts to share. Daryl Daniel said the blessing before lunch.

Cloyd Edmondson explained the plaques being put around the wall at the park that can be purchased by any who desires. Peggy (Gunter) Dickenson suggested to the class of 1951 that their large class picture and their obit display be donated to the museum, which the class agreed to do. Mrs. Frank Shaw and Mrs. J.T. Smithhart will do this for the class.

Those attending for the 1950 class were Rayford and Helen (Edwards) Brister and daughter Janice; Cloyd Edmondson, Jack and Vondene Wilder, Rita Virginia (Moore) Jenkins, Eddie and Rae Edwards, Wendell and Bessie Till; David, Bess Wilcox, Chris Moses; Emerson and Gladys Brister and Robert and Sue Broyles.

Those attending for the 1951 class were Keith and Peggy (Gunter) Dickenson and daughter Cynthia, Jean (Moore) Tombaugh, J.T. and Shirley Smithhart, Almola (Clements) James, Max Mahan, Frank and Sue Shaw, George and Nell McHorse, James (Ross) Ragsdale, Daryl and Nelda Daniel, Herman and Evelyn (Brister) Herman and daughter Cindy and David and Joyce (Magee) Mitchell.

It was a great time for all and as usual many tall tales of the past were shared. We missed all who could not attend and look forward to seeing everyone in 2012. Current plans for both classes are to keep the reunion date the first weekend in June, so mark your calendars.
