John Henry Escoubas, 92, of San Saba, Texas formally of Hearne, Texas passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Eventide Nursing Home in San Saba. John was born on September 1, 1917 in Calcasieu Parrish, Louisiana to Albert and Rosealee Picard Escoubas. He attended Louisiana and Baytown schools. On March 10, 1939 John and Lorenee Roberts Escoubas were united in marriage in Baytown. John began working for Exxon Mobile in 1940 were he worked for many years.

John was a Deacon for forty two years at First Baptist Church, and loved his church family. He and Lorenee owned Country Foods Locker Plant in Hearne, he was elected as Mayor of Hearne in April of 1965, he and was awarded as Honorary Lonestar Farmer in 1967. John was a past president of the Hearne Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Rotary Club, he was the Disaster Chairman of the Red Cross, County Chairman of the Red Cross, and a twice past Master of Masonic Lodge # 361.

John is survived by his wife of seventy two years, Lorenee Escoubas; his daughters, Melba Escoubas, Jean Hudson, and her children, Christine Hudson, Renee Hudson and her sons, Jason and Joshua Butler; Sherry Cradduck and her husband, Mike, and their children, Nathan Cradduck, Deanna Pfeffer and her husband, Doug and their children, Darcy and Daxton, Sue Timmons and her husband Jim and their children Kelly Bryant and her husband, Billy and her daughter Ashley Parrish; Kasey Timmons; and her daughter, Breann Hellner and John Timmons, sister-in-law, Lois Escoubas and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.

Visitation was held prior to the service beginning at 9:30 am on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Hearne. Services were held at 10:30 am on Saturday, June 18, 2011 with Rev. Larry Blackman officiating. Interment at Norwood Cemetery in Hearne. Memorials can be made to Hearne of San Saba’s First Baptist Church or donors favorite charity.
