City of San Saba’s “4th of July In The Park”
San Saba County Fire Chief and the San Saba County Fire Marshal’s Recommendations to the Commissione

Due to the extreme fire conditions, and the eminent danger they represent in San Saba County, it is the recommendation of the San Saba County Fire Chief and the San Saba County Fire Marshal that the sale and use of fireworks be banned in San Saba County for this 2011 Fourth of July Celebration.

This recommendation is made after examining the weather conditions, information received from the State Fire Marshals Office, and research into the Texas Government Code Sec. 418.108 Declaration of Local Disaster. We have also gathered as much information as we could from all of the surrounding Counties. And all of those Counties have either banned or highly restricted the sale and/or use of fireworks.

We understand this is inconvenient and it will affect those who make their income from the sale of fireworks, however we believe the protection of our people and property is far more important.

As an alternative to the fireworks, The City of San Saba in conjunction with Impact 2000 Plus and The San Saba Youth Football Association will host "4

th of July. However this year due to the extreme fire conditions the fireworks show has been cancelled unless there is a significant amount of rain fall that would allow the show to be done safely. There will be fun for the entire family beginning at 6 p.m. with FREE Bounce Houses and Obstacle Courses and the San Saba Youth Football Association will be selling Hot Dogs, Watermelon, and Drinks. At 7 p.m., it’s a FREE "Concert In The Park" featuring Austin Bluegrass Sensation "The Sieker Band" and at 9 p.m., there will be a FREE "Dive-In Movie" at Pecan Pool featuring Will Smith’s "Independence Day"… Bring the whole family and celebrate the 4th in The Pecan Capital Of The World!
