The San Saba County Commissioners Court met on Monday, June 13th at 9 a.m. in the County Judge’s Chambers. Commissioner Rickey Lusty conducted the meeting in the absence of County Judge Byron Theodosis. Lusty called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone to the court. Commissioner Kenley Kroll gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags.

David Williams and Ann McElroy, members of the San Saba County Historical Commission, reported on the Texas Courthouse Stewardship Workshop they attended on May 19th.

A land owner at 220 Souix Street in Cherokee addressed the court pertaining to CR 158 West that has not been maintained.

A request for an Indigent Burial was received and the Court discussed the County’s procedure with Attorney David Williams.

The following county reports were approved subject to audit: County Clerk’s report; County Treasurer’s report; County Justice of the Peace report; County Sheriff’s report.

The following Departmental reports were accepted: County Judge; County Extension Agents; County Indigent Health Care Program Director; County Grant Writer; County EMS Billing; County Emergency Management Coordinator; County On-Site Sewage Facility Management Co-ordinator; County 9-1-1 Coordinator; County Trapper.

The jail report was confirmed by Kenley Kroll with maximum capacity. County Sheriff, Allen Brown reported that one deputy is needed; we have "out of county" prisoners in Upton, Comanche, and Llano Counties; there have been arrests for DWI’s, drug related incidents, and there has been vandalism. Wymond Kraft and Zane McGehee have been added as new active Reserve officers.

Rick Baskin of Baskin Insurance Agency, presented the Court with the County Insurance Policy. The Commissioners approved the new policy and will discuss some value adjustments on county owned buildings after the Commissioners Court.

With regrets, the Court accepted the resignation of Stan Burnham from the San Saba County Historical Commission.

The Court approved the repairs to be paid for by the occupants of the county owned building at 421 E. Wallace Street.

The following items were approved by the Court:

1. The minutes of the previous Commissioners Court meeting.

2. Payment of bills presented by County Treasurer.

3. The recommended Amendments and/or Line Item Transfers.

There was discussion about the weather/drought conditions and the Commissioners unanimously instated a burn ban - effective immediately.

Marsha Hardy, County Coordinator, reported that the county car has been tuned up and is in better condition to drive.

The next Commissioners Court was set for 9 a.m. Monday, June 27th.
