Like my Dad
Thursday, June 16, 2011 • Posted June 16, 2011

Recently my wife and I went to visit our son and his wife and our grandson. While there I found some little chores to do around the house. I had a great time hanging a new towel rack in their bathroom and doing other little chores. While working I was reminded when my parents would come visit and my dad would talk to my wife and find little chores or errands to do. He seemed so happy to do them and now I know the feeling. My granddad did the same thing. In thinking back I am reminded of how much influence my granddad and dad had on my life. They were good examples by being providers and being there with the family and loving us. That is God’s plan for the family, one man, one woman, (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:5&6) and if children, providing for them and nurturing them in a loving, God centered home, (Ephesians 6:4, Colossians 3:21, Proverb 22:6). Next Sunday will be fathers day and it is a time we can pay tribute to and honor fathers. It may be a simple thank you, a phone call, e-mail, card, special meal or their favorite dessert but we need to let them know that they are appreciated. Last Sunday I visited a church and they had all the men come forward as the service started and had prayer. See you in Church next Sunday.
