A Workshop on Flint Knapping will be conducted in Goldthwaite at the Legacy Plaza Annex, 1309 Reynolds Street across from the Church of Christ in Goldthwaite on June 11. Bill Csanyi, outstanding artist in flint artifacts from Comfort, Texas did a workshop last fall which was highly received and will be returning for this one. Bill is a great and patient teacher and you will come away with the knowledge to make a beautiful artifact. The Workshop will begin on Saturday at 9am until 5pm with a break for lunch. For those new to knapping, Bill will conduct a session inside the Annex starting at 9. This program would be open to anyone interested at all ages. Experienced knappers will be working under the carports if they do not wish to sit in on the basic training and explanations of knapping. Another experienced knapper, Tommy Patterson from Comanche will be working with the experienced knappers during this time.

Some knapping tools and flint will be available but bring your own tools and flint if you have them. You will need leather gloves, glasses or goggles, tarp or cloth to catch flint flakes, piece of leather at least 12" x 12" to cover leg, small deer horn, copper billet, hammer stone, your own piece of flint if you have a large or pretty piece that you would like to use and a chair. A donation is appreciated to Legacy Plaza to help cover the cost.
