Baby Boomers
Thursday, June 2, 2011 • Posted June 2, 2011

In 2010 it was estimated that there is 79 million baby boomers in the United States. Anyone born between 1946 and 1964 is considered a "boomer". It started after WW11 due to a great population explosion, over 4 million a year, followed by huge economic growth. They make up large part of our workforce, buy upper end cars and vacation everywhere. One turns sixty every 8 seconds. In 2000 over 35 million were 65 or older and now many are retiring or have retired. I have watched a good number of people retiring and many turn to alcohol, heavy smoking and just sitting in a easy chair. One man stated that when he retired he was not going to do anything and he has kept his word. I wonder what does God want or expect from Christens? One thing we are to worship and serve God all of our lives, not like slaves but just wanting to, (Matthew 4:10, Romans 7:6). Jesus came to reach and help people, (Ephesians 5:1&2). We can pray and ask God for someway we can be of service, (Ephesians 2:10). Many start helping around the Church while others may go to areas of disasters and help serve food or cleanup or talking and praying with people in distress, (Psalm 71:18). My semi-retired brother is in Cuba now helping people in poor areas get good drinking water, (Psalm 92:14, Genesis 25:8, Proverbs 16:31). See you in Church next Sunday.
