Dear Editor:

The elections are over and so should be the finger pointing, name calling and blame throwing. However, it seems that isn't the case.

Yes, the bonds failed and the liquor passed. That was pretty much a given. The San Saba bond was in reality in anticipation of Richland Springs ISD closing, and that is understandable. The Richland Springs bond was for... we still aren't real clear on that. We do know it would have included a school building of some kind. As for the alcohol... those who drink will drink and those who don't like it will not change.

Just because the bonds failed doesn't mean we don't care about education. It's called being realistic and frugal with our money. Times are hard and there doesn't seem an end in sight for this bad economy. If some can't pay their bills and taxes at present, then what would a tax increase do to them? Are there any private citizens out there willing to help bail them out? No? Didn't think so.

A new building isn't going to help teach our young anything except how to beg for what they want, such as these schools are doing. Instead of fancy buildings, buy books, that is needed more. Do away with other unnecessary items and focus on teaching.

Now, here's the problem... I voted against the RSISD bond and that made me even more unpopular than I already was. No, this doesn't really bother me but the lack of respect being shown and childish behavior does. This disrespect is coming from adults that should know better and the worst part is that there are even educators involved.

I'm not liked for a variety of reasons and I personally don't care. However, my husband hasn't done anything to any of you and you want to punish him as well. The beer bottles in the driveway, yard and around the big truck are a pest, as are those who drive by and honk for no reason. This is out and out childish. If you have something to say to me, then be adult enough to at least come and say it to my face. I am more than willing to listen to what you have to say. Then you will listen to me. Fair is fair.

For those of you who are connected with the RSISD and do this, I say it is a shame. What message are you sending those you are supposed to be teaching? If this is what you are teaching then we are in trouble. You say you deserve respect for what you do, then show respect to others and they might learn to respect you. Practice what you are supposed to be teaching, good manners, respect to others, and consideration.

Again, you have a complaint with me, you know where I am. As for the elections... they are over, accept it and move on.
