The GED test will be given at Gatesville High School, June 7 and 8 at Gatesville High School in Room 22. Registration to take the test is Wednesday, June 1, in Room 22 from 5 - 7 p.m. Bring Texas Drivers License, State or Federal Photo ID, Social Security Card and $65. Be sure to bring all ID on testing day as well.
Registration will take about 30 minutes to an hour. If the candidate is 17, he/she will need to bring a guardian to register and also have withdrawal papers from the last school attended. If you failed the test between 2002 and 2009 and need to retake one or more parts, each part will cost $10.00 and it must have been six months since you took the test or you must have a letter from the instructor saying that you are ready to take the test. You will need to bring a copy of the previous test scores if you have tested before. For those under 18 years of age, there are other qualifications also.
The test will be given at 5:15 p.m. on both June 7 and 8. You must attend both nights to complete the test.
ID is required all three nights. It usually takes about 4 hours each night to complete testing.
If you are a new tester, there is one part of the registration you need to do on line at www.utk16.org/scoring (phone help line, 512-475-9400, if needed). This is the first step toward testing. On the home page, you will find a large link entitled "GED TESTERS: click here for the GED Demographic Form" in bold red text. Once you click this link, you will find the clear, step by step instructions. If you are planning to take the test at Gatesville, be sure to use 0750 for the center number. The rest of the registration and paying to take the test must be done at GHS.
There will be no testing in July and August.
