Local American Legion to meet on Memorial Day
Thursday, May 26, 2011 • Posted May 26, 2011

The American Legion of San Saba will meet and hold a prayer breakfast at 7 a.m. at El Jalapeno Restaurant, next to the old L&L Hotel on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30th. Retired Minister Forrest E. McGregor of San Saba will present the program.

McGregor was born in Temple, Texas and was raised in San Saba County, where he attended Richland Springs School. After graduation in 1962, he first attended Texas A&M University and later graduated from Howard Payne University. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of San Saba and has pastored at Bowser Community Church, Pecan Grove Baptist Church and Parkview Baptist Church.

The American Legion of San Saba takes this time to remind the public that freedom is not free. Our liberties have been bought and paid for with blood. So, on Memorial Day, just give a little time, clean a grave, fly a flag and just remember. Also remember the origin, the great women of the South, and thousands like Mrs. Charles Williams, who worked diligently and began this great tradition of remembrance.
