Elm Grove Echoes

The best news of the week is the good rain we had last week. We had 2.3 inches here in Richland Springs, just north of town 5 inches fell, out at Elm Grove, just .5 of an inch, then, in Brownwood, they received 5 inches. It was a very spotted rain. The only wild flowers to be seen are a few patches of Indian Blankets.

G.H. Suber from Odessa was here to spend the weekend with us and he thought everything looked real good around here, compared to Odessa. They have not had any rain to speak of in 8 or 9 months. He and Michael took in the bird sale and he went back home with another load of birds.

Remember the Homecoming Picnic is coming up this Saturday, the 21st. It has never been completely rained out but showers are predicted. Anyway, come on out and enjoy a good barbecue lunch, seeing old friends and making new ones. There are a lot of things going on that day but I think we can get it all in.

The Busy Bee quilting club had 5 members present last Tuesday. They were Gloria Lusty, Marilyn Miller, Irene Hammett, Carol Orr and Grace Hardman. We missed Fay Lusty since she is always there, but she had other things she had to do that day. Billie McKinnerney and I visited for a while. They were working on a quilt for Gloria and she may bring it back again in June.

The 42 tournament which was scheduled at Shiloh last Saturday night was canceled. It will be in Richland Springs next month on the second Saturday.

See you at the Picnic!
