Beer Cans to Bibles

Last week I went to a dear longtime friend’s funeral and it brought back many memories. We met years ago when we both worked on adjoining ranches and rode horses and drank beer together. So much it even became a big problem but one day something happened. A pastor from a small church came to my house and told me about Jesus Christ and what He did for me, (Romans 10:14&15). I knew something was missing in my life but I did not know what. That night in front of my house I got on my knees and asked God to forgive me, (1 John 1:9) and I asked Christ to be my personal Lord and Savior, (Luke 5:32, Romans 10:12&13). The next evening I got on my horse and rode up to my friend and told him what had happened to me last night. He just turned his horse away and rode off. He did not speak to me for a long time or have anything to do with me. Man that hurt. It was not till years later, late one night I got a call from him crying and wanting to know how he could accept Christ. We prayed over the phone and then he started calling regularly. We both gave up drinking, with Christ’s help and started carrying Bibles. Christ in anyone’s life will make a difference, (2 Corinthians 5:17). See you in Church next Sunday.
