Thursday, May 12, 2011 • Posted May 12, 2011

McKenna Maxcey, daughter of Reagan and Marcie Maxcey and an 8th grader at SSMS, has been appointed by Cinch to the NHRSA All Star Rodeo Team. McKenna competed in the Junior High Division of the Texas High School Rodeo Association. McKenna earned a position on the NHSRA All Star Rodeo Team based on leadership qualities, academic eligibility and her athletic achievement in the sport of rodeo. Members of the Cinch Division All Star Rodeo Team receive official competition apparel consisting of a Cinch shirt embroidered with the team logo and a pair of competition Cinch jeans to wear at the state competition.

McKenna competed in five events in Region X during the year and will advance to the state competition in all five. McKenna was the overall Champion Barrel Racer, placed second in pole bending, goat tying, breakaway roping and fourth in ribbon roping with her partner Nathan Little. There are 10 regions in Texas, with each region sending the top eight in each event. The state finals are in Gonzales, Texas at the end of May, with contestants from across the state of Texas competing for six days. The top four in each event will advance to the National Finals to be held in July in Gallup, New Mexico. The Texas State Finals are very competitive as some of the top rodeo competitors in the Nation are from Texas.

Good luck McKenna!
