We have not had any rain this past week, but the countryside is pretty and green. No wild flowers, however. Places that were covered in bluebonnets last year are bare this year. Rain is in the forecast this week so let’s hope and pray!

There was a total of n ine present at the Cox Cemetery meeting last Saturday. Paula Campbell and Ben Dennis were re-elected as directors. The cemetery looked nice although some graves need a little bit of attention.

Another Richland Springs High School Alumni Banquet has come and gone. I understand that it was a nice banquet with a good turn-out. If you ever attended school at Richland Springs, you are invited. It is not just for graduates. The banquet is always held on the Saturday before Mother’s Day.

The 42 tournament will be this Saturday night at Shiloh.

May 21st is the annual Homecoming Picnic at Elm Grove. This has been going on for about 80 years. Come and join us for a day of fun, fellowship and a good barbecue dinner.

I received gifts, cards, phone calls and visitors for Mother’s Day. On Sunday after church, ten of us went to Hard 8 in Brady for a barbecue lunch. Stacie and Sophia Elizondo were weekend guests of ours. Stacie attended the alumni banquet as one of the honored graduates. We really enjoyed having her and Sophia and watching Sophia demonstrate her walking skills.

We were sorry that we couldn’t attend the birthday party for Valrea Patton in San Saba on Saturday. We just had too many irons in the fire. We know she had a nice party and send our belated birthday wishes.

Marilyn visited with Emily Mask again on Monday and took her a haircut. She reports that Emily seems to be feeling better but she still needs our prayers. Emily said to tell everyone "hello" for her.
