The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met April 27, 2011 for play day with the Chair for April, Jo Ann Snow, calling for a game of playing odd holes less 1/2 your handicap. First place went to Dorothy Sterner and Second to Anita Miles, who also was Low Gross and Low Net for the day and won the putt pot with 30 putts. Hattie Rogers scored the only birdie of the day and won the chip in pot. Jo Anne Hardy and Sandee Hartley rounded out the field. Bobbie Churchill came and watched, wishing she was back on the links.

The ladies are looking forward to the Spring Four Lady Pecan Classic scheduled for May 14, 2011, sponsored by the City National Bank. The City National Bank has sponsored this tournament for several years and the ladies are so appreciative of their continued support. It’s great to live in San Saba where it is one for all and all for one! Thanks, City National!

We are proud of Shelby Hardy, granddaughter of our own, Jo Anne Hardy. Shelby is in her second year at Sam Houston and was named First Team All Southland Conference and Most Valuable Player on the Sam Houston Golf Team! Wow! We always knew Shelby would excel in golf. She has a God given talent and years of lessons and training. She is very dedicated to her sport. The all time golf score record at Sam Houston is 75.44 and Shelby averaged 75.45, one one hundredth of a point! I have confidence that she will break that record before she graduates. San Saba should be proud of Shelby! Bill Hardy is! Ha! On that note I will close out, reminding the ladies the tournament’s coming so you’d better be ‘swinging!’
