Edwards Plateau Historians Meeting Saturday

On Saturday, May 7, folks from throughout Central Texas will come together at the new Community Room of the Commercial National Bank in San Saba for the Spring meeting of the Edwards Plateau Historical Association. This marks the 40

Registration will commence around 9 o’clock that morning and presentations of papers will follow beginning around 9:30 a.m. Among the topics for this gathering will be family histories of outstanding pioneer families of San Saba County including the Fleming family through descendant Linda Kirkpatrick of Leakey, Texas and the Davenport family through Fran Hoerster of Mason, Texas. David Williams will present his findings regarding the "San Saba Treaty" of 1851; and Ross Cox, Sr. is slated to speak about San Saba County Sheriff and Texas Ranger Edgar T. Neal.

"We greatly appreciate everyone’s past inputs. Our members and writers are mostly amateur historians with a keen interest in the grit it took to pioneer in this area of Texas," said Betty Thomason, Association President, of Winters, Texas. "We learn little by little and discover where best to fit pieces of a true puzzle left by many who were too busy to fully chronicle their life and times."
