At last the rain did come early Monday in the wee hours it started to rain and still coming down at 11:00 a.m. Checked the rain gauge at 9:30 a.m. and had one half inch. It is wonderful, as it was so badly needed.

Mother’s Day will be Sunday, May 8 and there will be families getting together for that big celebration and it is hoped all the mothers out there have a great day.

Jane Clark went to Portales, N. M. Wednesday to be with her sister Elsa Dean. Shirley was admitted to the hospital in Clovis. They removed her appendix which was just about ready to burst. She went home Friday and Jane stayed with her until Sunday. On the way home she stopped off in Lubbock to visit son Boyd and his sons Eli and Silas. Boyd took Jane out to eat at the Red Lobster for an early Mother’s Day celebration.

Charlene Brister reported that she and Jackie had a house full of visitors Saturday: Andy and Gwen Feaster from Llano; niece, Deb Waller from Nashville, Tennessee; daughter, Shari and Steve from Dripping Springs; Penny Vasek from Rosenberg. Lots of good food, visiting and laughter.

Jim and Ora Beth Hicks along with Judy and Vernon Brister celebrated their anniversary Friday night by eating at Alfredo’s in Lampasas.

The Indigo Buntings are still feeding at the bird feeders at the Price place on the river. They have stayed around longer this year than in the past so maybe they will stay until winter.

Rufus Cobern was in Scott and White Monday for a CatScan as he has not been feeling very well. Hopefully they can come up with something that will give him some relief.

LaNell Daniels reported that she and Jack had some really good fishing results Monday when they ran their lines. They caught a 55 lb. Yellow Cat and some difficulty getting up the wet slippery bank carrying the fish. She reported that it was the prettiest yellow color she had ever seen and she has seen a few. They stopped by Bad Bob’s Store and he took pictures of it.

To see it go to Big Bad Bob’s on the web. He was caught on line baited with perch. They had the lines in for three days and had not caught anything and were going to take up the lines, but as it turned out they didn’t have to as they caught the big one. Last week they had some good luck as they caught some nice ones weighting over 14 pounds. The fishing may pick up after this little rain.

Happy birthday wishes goes out to Tyler Grant and Bobby Clark who will celebrate a birthday May 7, to Kenneth Shirley, Lola Morris and Eli Clark who will celebrate a birthday May 8, which will be Mother’s Day; Geneva Hickey, Belle Marley and Skylar Harris who will celebrate a birthday May 11, to Handy Andy Gibson and Lynn Hamrick who will celebrate a birthday May 12.
