Evelyn Sue Townsend passed away after a short illness May 1, 2011. She was born in Snyder, Oklahoma on September 10, 1920 to Fred and Kate Sterner. She married Fred Townsend Jr. in San Saba, Texas on November 21, 1942. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers, Kenneth, Tim and Gary Sterner.
Mrs. Townsend was the office manager at Bagley Pecans and lived most of her life in San Saba. Evelyn moved to Lubbock 10 years ago. She was a lifelong Methodist and member of the choir. She was a proud member of the Seekers Sunday School Class at Wolfforth UMC.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Karen Stuart and husband Ray of Lubbock, Texas and her son, Paul Townsend and wife Ann of Big Spring, Texas. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Reagan Stuart and wife Michelle; Renee Steele, and husband Brian; Rod Stuart, and wife Christine all of Lubbock; and Josh Townsend of Big Spring and 9 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service officiated by Rich Jones will be held at Wolfforth UMC Wednesday, May 4, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held in San Saba, Texas, Thursday, May 5 at 10:00 a.m. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Wolfforth First United Methodist Church building fund or a favorite charity.
