Billie Ruth Patton celebrates 100th birthday

Billie Ruth Patton celebrated her 100

Billie was born in the Colony community, San Saba County, Texas, to James R. Ragsdale and Katherine (Kate) Matsler Ragsdale on March 22, 1911. She is the ninth and only survivor of nine children.

She married Glenn Patton on June 21, 1933. They had one son, Harold Glenn Patton, deceased, and two daughters, Wanda Garrett and Ola Fischer. Billie was a dedicated homemaker and a very accomplished seamstress. Although she and her husband moved to San Antonio in 1957, where she resided until after his death, they continued to maintain their homestead outside of town on Pecan Grove Road as a favorite meeting place for their family. Billie sold the place in 2000 to her nephew, Joe Ragsdale, and it is now the bed and breakfast "Freedom Acres". She is so pleased to know that the place continues to belong to family. Billie has always considered San Saba to be her "real home" and has cherished her memories of her life there and is also the final resting place for all of her family members who have gone on to be with the Lord.

She attributes her long life to the grace of God and her dependence on Him and is thankful to Him for her many blessings.

th birthday on Tuesday, March 22 in the home of her daughter, Wanda Garrett and son-in-law Joe Bob Garrett in Euless, Tx., where she now resides. In celebration of her special day, she was presented with numerous cards, which had been sent by friends and relatives, at a surprise card party. She also received many other acknowledgments from family and friends, including a Certificate of Recognition from the Mayor of Euless. She is very appreciative of all the acknowledgments and best wishes which she received and stated that it was a "very happy birthday, indeed".
