All Burning Prohibited

Please be advised that under the Governor's Disaster Declaration, any outdoor flame is clearly and totally prohibited. This prohibition includes prescribed burns, agriculture burns, and/or welding. The Governor's Proclamation will be in effect until significant rainfall is received. Extreme fire danger continues in the counties affected and San Saba County is included.

The Texas Forest Service believes that wildfires under the existing conditions are capable of traveling at a rate of FIVE (5) MPH and could overrun firefighters and suppression equipment. These wildfires may be expected to spread at a rate of 2000 acres/hour.

This is an extremely dangerous situation that warrants these stringent restraints and continued diligence on the part of our citizens and officials. We hope that everyone will do their part to prevent the loss of life and property that is possible under the present climate conditions.
