Thursday, April 14, 2011 • Posted April 14, 2011

The San Saba FCCLA has 26 students headed to State Competition this week on April 14 - 16 in Houston, Texas. Diana Landeros, Bridgett Maldonado (not picture), Ana Karen Guerrero, and Courtney Pryor (not pictured) will be competing in LEO’s which test their knowledge about FCCLA.

Gennie Hamilton and Wesley Gates will be competing in Focus on Children by giving a presentation over their Bully Awareness issues they shared with the elementary school and high school.

Kristin Reynolds and Savanah Rios will be showing off what all the entire San Saba FCCLA has done all year in the Chapter Showcase division. Marissa Anaya, Morgan Jimenez, and Mikayla Cisneros have put together an amazing video and presentation on the importance of friendship and being a friend for the Applied Technology, junior division. Kayla Kutin, Katie Ross, and Mckenzie Hibler have also put together a great video and presentation for seatbelt safety and texting & driving concerns to raise awareness of these serious issues.

Juan Guerrero, Gisela Rodriguez, and Jose Vega will be sharing and discussing their projects and efforts they have made for the Senior Environmental team. Kristen Isham, Nickie Ortiz and Mikayla Eden are also focused on environmental issues but are part of the junior team and will also be sharing how they have made a difference.

Jessica Ramirez, Allison Christian, and Allison Nettleship have put together a display board to show off their efforts this year in Chapter Service junior division sharing how they have raised money and helped with issues concerning CASA and other programs focused on helping and assisting children. Aaron Kruger, Brian Rogers, and Jairo Casco have created a realistic business plan and portfolio for the Entrepreneurship junior division.

We would like to thank the San Saba Rotary club for letting many of our teams give their presentations during their meetings to help the students prepare for their competition and also their generous donation to the San Saba FCCLA. It has been a busy year preparing all the students for all their different events, but it is exciting to see how much they grow and learn from these types of competitions and events. Good Luck
