SS Tennis Team qualifies 13 for the Regional Tournament - Community News - San Saba News & Star

The San Saba Tennis Team dominated the District 6-AA Tennis Tournament on April 4-5 at Early High School. The Armadillos qualified 13 out of possible 16 berths to regionals. The girls and boys teams also won the district team title. Qualifying for regionals were Marshal McInTosh 1

st place in Boys Singles, Lauren Dawson 1st place in Girls Singles, Joely Haverland 2nd place in Girls Singles, Kobe Cisneroz and Diego Gonzales 1st place in Boys Doubles, Houston Casco and Josh Raiford 2nd place in Boys Doubles, Tarah Crosby and Joannah Crosby 1st place in Girls Doubles, Regan Hartranft and Brittany Moreno 2nd place in Girls Doubles, Heather Wilcox and Jose Vega 1st place in Mixed Doubles. B.J. Harbour coming off a 1st place title at the Mason Tournament came close in pulling off the upset of the tournament, in the quarterfinals B.J. lost a close match to the number 1 seeded player Nolan Ethridge 6-7, 6-1, 6-4. B. J. ended up in 5th place in the tournament. Josie Dawson and Diego Lara played well also and came in 6th place in Mixed Doubles.

This is the most players San Saba has ever gotten to regionals.This will be Tarah Crosby, Marshal McIntosh, and Diego Gonzales 3

rd trip to regionals. Marshal is the first player from San Saba to qualify for regionals in all three events, singles, doubles and mixed doubles. This will be the second trip to regionals for Joannah Crosby and Lauren Dawson. Regionals will be held in Odessa on April 20-21.

In the Junior Varsity Division Kristen Isham and Allison Nettleship won 1

st place in Girls Doubles. Jairo Casco and Aaron Krueger won 1st place in Boys Doubles. Jonathan Ramirez and Chase Pierce won 2nd place in Boys Doubles. Daniel Calderon won 3rd place in Boys Singles.

I would like to thank Coach Pannell for running off the Junior Varsity Division for me. I would also like to thank Rachel Dawson for helping run off the Varsity Division, which gave me freedom to coach our kids. Also a big thanks to Sam and Jan Crosby and Cheray Haveland for all their support and help.
