April showers finally arrived Sunday night leaving 7/10 inch of rain around the Bend. The wind was up and blowing Monday, which means the little bit of moisture will be dried out pretty fast. The little bit was enough to wash off the cars and settle the dust for a day or two and clean the air which really smelled good Monday morning.

Still, a lot of fishing going on in the river with some good reports of yellow cat fish and some channel being caught.

Bobby and Kit Clark of Round Rock along with Jane Clark and LaNell Daniels was in Dora, New Mexico attending the birthday party for Jane’s first great grand child, Teagyn Kinsye Burash and Bobby’s first grand baby this past weekend. It was an early birthday celebration so that members of the family could attend. Teagyn’s birthday was April 12 and it was her first as she is now one and counting.

Jackie and Charlene Brister attended the funeral of nephew Levi Lewis Saturday in Dublin. He was the son-in-law of Vernon and Judy Brister of Cherokee. He left behind his wife, Kasha, son, Kayden, 2 years old and daughter, Braelyn, nine months. The grave side service was held Saturday in Wellington. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Jerome Meischen called and reported that he had his first nest of blue birds that have hatched out and that the scissor-tails are in which is usually a good sign that the cold weather is behind us. It is always exciting to hear of blue birds building their nest and hatching little ones. No one reported any sightings of the painted bunting which is always a welcome sight. The little humming birds are back with big appetites for the sugar water they drink. It is a chore to keep all the feeders filled.

Rufus and Tommye Cobern had the pleasure of Oscar, Lorie and baby Christianna who visited this past weekend.

The Bend Community center will meet Saturday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m. The meal will consist of sandwiches, dips/chips and homemade ice cream and maybe someone will bring cookies to go along with the ice cream. Everyone is invited to attend. Some people may furnish some music. Come and find out.

Happy birthday goes out to Christen Brister who will celebrate a birthday April 16, to Ethan Nixon who will celebrate a birthday April 10, to Ben Henniger whose birthday is April 18, to Tim Brockman and Sylvia Stinnett who will celebrate a birthday April 19 and to LaNell Daniels who will celebrate her birthday April 21.
