The Junior Dillos also played Coleman last Tuesday, and Hico this past Friday. While in Coleman, fighting the bad weather and darkness, the Armadillo JV team got in five innings of play. We did not score in the top of the first, and the Bluecats proceeded to push across three in their half of the inning. Then in the second, we answered the call and scored three runs ourselves. We then added two more in the fourth and two more in the fifth.

Key players of the game were: Kolton Ellis with a couple of hits and some good defensive plays, Jordan Watson with some hits and a great job of catching behind the plate, Dusty Parum with three hard hits and four RBI’s, Russell Lowe, Dylan Rosales, and Dallas Caldwell with good hits to score runners, TJ Hibler for good defensive play, and JT Mathis for hitting the ball, good base running, and pitching great from the mound and enduring the tough conditions. The final score of the game was: San Saba-7, Coleman-3.

This past Friday, April 1, the JV team played Hico by squeezing in 5 innings and battling darkness only (the weather was much, much better). Our batters were hitting the ball well, and we took advantage of some wild pitching in Hico’s part. Dylan Rosales, Tanner Hawkins, Russell Lowe, Kolton Ellis, Josh Wright and Jordan Watson all put the ball in play hard and moved the base runners around to score. Kelan Verette, TJ Hibler, Dallas Caldwell, Ethan Ingram, and Dusty Parum did a fine job of earning walks, getting hit by pitches, and putting balls in play when they were over the plate. Kelan Verette pitched well and kept the Tiger offense in check, they did score five runs but our offense gave us plenty of breathing room on the day. Josh Wright came in to close out the game for the last inning and a half without allowing any runs at all. The final score of the game was: San Saba-17, Hico-5.

These two wins make the JV record 8-4-1 on the year and 6-1 in district (two wins by forfeit). Their next games will be Friday, April 8, at 4:30 at Early High School, and Monday, April 11, at 4:30 here at Dillo Diamond. Thank you for all of your support.
