The Cowboy Cemetery Association of McCullough County will hold their annual workday at the cemetery on Saturday, April 16, 2011.
The Historic Cowboy Cemetery was established in 1885 and depends on volunteers to help with the clean up of the cemetery. Members are asked to bring their own tools and to wear work clothes. A barbecue lunch will be provided by the association at 12:00 noon. The association will also provide the ice, food, plates, eating utensils, and condiments. Attendees are asked to please bring their own desserts and drinks.
A business meeting will be held after the meal with the election of Treasurer, Secretary and one Director for a three year period. Any member can nominate someone other than the recommended person the board suggests.
Donations may be made to the association at any time by mailing them to The Cowboy Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 552, Brownwood, Texas 76804. The cemetery is located northeast of Placid off Farm Road 1028 near the San Saba County line. A sign indicating the location of the cemetery is placed at the turn-off to the cemetery.
