The wind has been like it should be March instead of April. Hope everyone made it through April Fools Day without any mishaps or jokes. The need for rain is becoming more desperate with each passing day. What little moisture there is being dried out by all the wind. The livestock are having to hunt for every blade of grass and ranchers are having to feed hay
to keep up. Even the goats are having a hard time finding something to eat. If you think it is hard on the livestock, just think how the deer or doing. Of course they are able to jump fences and can get out to the bar-ditches to eat what little green stuff there is. In Lampasas the residents in town are having deer come into their yards and eat the plants, as they have always been bad to do, but it is worse this year.
A strange event took place last week out on county road 426. Someone drove through a fence taking out a drive post and wire, then proceeded to make an arc and drive out in another spot taking out another drive post and wire
along with it. No tire tracks and no pieces of metal or signs of broken glass just the two holes in the fence, but you can just bet there was some damage to the car or pickup that caused all the damage to the fence. It is a shame that whoever was responsible didn’t come forward and repair the fence or pay to have it fixed. It just goes to show you it takes all kinds of
people in this old world. The owner of the property is a resident who lives in Austin and will be in for a big surprise when he comes in to visit his property.
