Last Saturday was the annual Don’t Mess with Texas Trash-Off event. I’m happy to report that Cherokee participated on FM 501 East with the Adopt-a-Highway program in memory of Herman Rhoades. My grandchildren, Kendall & Brady helped Avery and Maurine Johnson pick up 22 bags of trash. They would like to encourage others to help in keeping our area neat. If you’re interested in taking part in this program and would like to participate, go to www.dot.state.tx.us or call 325-643-0413.
