With a total of 837 San Saba County voters casting their ballots last Saturday in the Fox Crossing Water District election, the proposed new water district was turned down with Cherokee voting 30 for and 61 against; Richland Springs, 64 for and 88 against and San Saba 258 for and 336 against.
A balloon was found last week by Leslie Owen, three miles from San Saba near the Bill Owen Farm. The balloon contained a message from Brent Schoulte, a first grade student at Jefferson School in Pierre, S. Dakota.
Any student graduating from San Saba, Cherokee or Richland Springs High Schools in 1986 and planning to major in banking or other areas of finance in college or university is eligible to apply for the Wallace Hinyard Memorial Scholarship offered by San Saba National Bank.

James F. Gray of Cherokee was guest speaker at the dinner meeting of the San Saba Rotary Club, Thursday, March 30, according to Mrs. J.W. Patterson, Jr., assistant secretary. Gray spoke about his recent trip to Turkey and Greece.
The fish are beginning to get hungry according to the various fishing stories we have been hearing. W.W. Mitchell caught a yellow cat weighing three pounds and 10 ounces, with his rod and reel, one day last week.
With 71 names on the ballot for the senatorial election it may be a task for voters to make a choice, but in the city election for San Saba there are only three names on the ballot for the three aldermen to be named.
Rochelle Principal Dale Bagley, formerly of San Saba suffered a severe cut across the forehead Friday, March 24, when a wild turkey flew into the windshield while he was driving a school bus. The entire left side of the wind shield was knocked out, shattering Bagley with glass and putting the dead turkey in his lap.

A.J. Harkey expects to receive from Ballinger in a few days the famous race stallion L.B. Davis. The horse is a blood bay and those who attended the fair last year will remember him as one of the favorites on the track.

The large columns at the north entrance to the new courthouse are now completed and the cornice is now all in place. The frame work for roof and dome is being reared and gradually the big new house takes on its magnificent proportions.
J.C. Evans formally opened his new hotel last Saturday and has christened it the New Park Hotel. And the name fits so nicely the beautiful scenery surrounding his spacious buildings.
The commissioners court is in session this week and are still very busy going over the detail plans for furnishing the new courthouse with metal and wood furniture.
Miss Ethel Phillips closed her school at Harmony Ridge Friday. Misses Eva and Maude Phillips and Birdie Seale attended the closing exercises.
